This one is a bit personal but I've always thought that sharing your journey is a great way to inspire people to move forward and get better in every area of their life. This post is an attempt to encourage you to keep moving despite adversity. Hopefully you'll see in my story that perseverance pays off.

I started this year without defining extremely specific goals, what I mean by that is for the 1st time ever, I decided to be open to new possibilities. We're taught as business owners to set measurable goals before NYE. And I've had this mindset for years but the truth is I struggled to achieve those said Numbers.

Those small failures lead to trauma because I'm self-employed.

You may have been in the same boat, many small business owners barely get by and settle for little profits. I want you to know that I know how tough it is out there so don't be discouraged if you're having it hard right now.

1/Instead of Numbers, I focused on myself

I learned over the years that 2 people can take the same exact steps and follow the same process and 1 will succeed while the other will fail. I used to compare myself with other creators and service providers on social media. I was inspired by their level of dedication and I thought that I just had to follow their blueprint and everything will flourish for me.

Guess what? I was totally wrong.

You cannot replicate what someone else is doing because they have their own way of doing things. So the 1st Lesson is be yourself, focus on yourself, improve yourself.

I mimicked their way of selling, their type of content, their social media strategy and IT ABSOLUTELY DID NOT WORK.

I began experiencing breakthrough when I was unapologetically myself. From January till now, I didn't put a pressure on myself to achieve any amount of money, I wasn't seeking to grow my audience in a short period of time, I refused to chase after X amount of email subscribers, I didn't get mad when certain posts didn't do well. And I'm at the level of peace that's so comforting.

So be kind to you. If you know that you're doing your best, everything will eventually fall into place.

2/I wasn't afraid to invest in myself

If you've been Following me for a while, you probably know that I enrolled in 2 courses at the beginning of the year. 1 of them is fully paid and I've got monthly payments for the other one till December. Yes I took a 12months payment course and … it hurts my Pocket.

That decision was absolutely risky but I needed the knowledge and the Community of Web Designers I'm part of, thanks to that investment. This is what I call long-term vision and I'm highly encouraging you to think that way.

Don't be afraid to make sacrifices for your future self. Chances are, 6 months from now, you'll be glad you did. I haven't made the money back yet but I'm on my way to do so.

Always think ahead and don't cheat on your future self. I call it self-love, that's what it truly means in my opinion.

By the way if you’re new here, start by reading my story and learn why I’m only building websites for florist. That article will give you more context about my Web Design journey.

3/Self-discipline is the key because patience is a virtue

That phrase can literally sum up this entire article. I remember in April when I started marketing my new offer. It changed my little routine. Suddenly I had to create and release content every Week and constantly perform marketing tasks behind the scenes. What helped me the most was the accountability from you!

For example, I went on and released an article every Week because I publicly said so in my Stories. Doing the opposite would have felt like betraying you. So I kept writing and now I actually love it.

I won't even talk about the daily tasks about my marketing game but the idea remain the same. Self-discipline is the real deal.

And what about patience in all of this, you may ask?

Well, patience for me is your ability to endure without little to no gratification. That's why I said in my intro that you gotta keep Moving despite adversity. Dear flower friend, no matter what you're going through right now, remember that the only to overcome it is to grow trough it. Look at the growth in you, Don't lose hope because of the circumstances. You're stronger than that.

4/You'll Harvest good fruit when you're sowing good seeds

I have to talk about faith on this one. I've been dying to mention the work God has been doing in me during those 6 months but I'm aware that some people in my audience are not Christian …

Anyway, here's to my believers friends.

One of my favourite scriptures at this moment is Galatians 6:7-9 The principle is so clear, yet we often forget that it's just the law of nature. You'll reap what you sow. Sow good and good will come back to you. People call it the boomerang effect and they're not wrong at all.

I've experienced small loving gesture from you here and there this year and it motivated me to stay the course. I'm pretty sure that there are many lovely people secretly rooting for you right now.

Keep showing up and you'll be surprised that the blessings from God were in plain sight all this time. So here's a quick reminder: keep sowing the good seeds AND water the plant. You Don't just sow the seed, you have to take care of your plant.

Not sure how it applies to your situation but please, keep doing

  • what you know is right,

  • what glorifies God,

  • and what will bless others.

2 Corinthians 9:8 states that God wants to bless you so that you can bless others.

Now with that being said, hope you liked today's read.

Take care and go hard for the 2nd half of this year. You got this.
